Facts:
- $1.5 Million Could Pay for 25 Police Officer but Salinas Can’t Afford 10 Officers that it NEEDS.
- $1.5 Million Could Pay for 30 Staff Nurses at Natividad Medical Center.
- This Spring, Monterey County Doubled Booking Fees It Charges Salinas To Book Inmates in to the County Jail.
- Salinas Residents Could Lose All 3 of Their Libraries to the Budge Axe.
- Rancho San Juan will need over 14.6 officers and 2.2 sergeants to serve approximately 12,000 residents. Salinas will shoulder the burden of the county’s inability to provide adequate police protection.
- Fire Protection for Monterey County Unincorporated Areas Costs Approximately $1.8 million dollars, 120 Percent of the $1.5 Million Budget Shortfall Caused by Rancho San Juan. In 2003, the Salinas Fire Department Answered a Record 10,000 Calls for Service.
Traffic Conundrum: How Will Budget Strapped Salinas Pay for this COUNTY-Backed Project?
- If the County Approves Rancho San Juan, the City of Salinas Will Pay for the Necessary Road Upgrades for Rancho San Juan’s Traffic Impacts. Rancho San Juan Will Degrade Over 20 Salinas Intersections to Gridlock Traffic Conditions.
