SUBJECT: ENVIRONMENTAL DOCUMENT FOR ZIPLINE AT JACK’S PEAK PARK
Dear Chair Potter and Members of the Board of Supervisors:
LandWatch Monterey County has been following the application process for the proposed
zipline at Jacks Peak Park. We attended a meeting at the park in 2011 and have been following
the status of the proposed project for the last several months.
It is our understanding that a mitigated negative declaration is being prepared for release in early
2012. Because of potential significant impacts on biological resources that cannot be mitigated,
current public controversy and the likelihood of extensive public review and comments on the
proposed project, we urge the Board to request that an environmental impact report (EIR) be
prepared. Preparation of an EIR now instead of later will save both time and resources and best
serve the public that is interested in the project.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Amy L. White
